Not too long ago, hip-hop had heart. We were graced with the likes of production by Q-tip, Pete Rock, The Rza, Dr Dre (well, not really), Large Professor, Buckwild, and DJ Premier. These names helped shape the golden era of hip-hop.
In 2006 you don’t have to look far to see the real lack in diversity between producers.
Enter Cookin’ Soul, a trio from Spain bringing their own flavor of hip-hop to the streets.
When I stumbled across the group they were doing a series called “Street’s Most Wanted Remixes”. Popular tracks from many golden era hiphop artists are remixed. Cookin’ Soul puts an eclectic spin on some previously used samples, as well as some samples I’ve yet to come across.

Cookin’ Soul has also remixed the AZ Album – A.W.O.L., giving it a very crisp feel. Stand-out tracks include “The Come Up”, “City Of Gods”, and “New York”. Fan of the oldschool sound, r&b/funk/soul samples? Then chances are you’ll enjoy their sound.
Cookin’ Soul’s production style brings a *new* familiar touch back to 2006 and Beyond.
You can download all of their Remix L.P.’s For free on their website.
