“Conflict Diamonds” by The African Diamond Council

After Blood Diamond hit theaters everyone started to learn about “Conflict diamonds“, and how the search for these coveted gem stone were causing massive deaths in regions of Africa where the inhabitants could work for nearly their whole lives and never be able to afford to buy what they were employed to look for. Prior to  ”Blood Diamond” though, their was plenty of news circulating about the wars and deaths going on over conflict diamonds, just many either chose to ignore it to keep from letting their conscious get in the way of purchasing their next necklace of engagement ring, or the media smothered out the stories being done about conflict diamonds, with their usual smoke and mirror tactics of keeping our attention on issues that dont matter or are just straight lies. The news isn’t news any more; its entertainment. So thats why Hollywood had to make a movie about it before anyone cared.

Some of your favorite rappers can be heard saying they could careless if their conflict diamonds or not, their still going to buy and wear them. This is the world we live in.

The African Diamond Council put together this commercial to keep the awareness level about what’s still going on in africa on high. The Commercial is graphic and borderline shocking which is perfect to wake up many of us who are regularly being desensitized to violence with out having any real connection to it. Keep in mind this commericial is a very real scenario that is still happening every day.
