Many people I know have been cutting cabs from their repertoire and have been iron horsing it round town. Now nothing can beat the MTA in terms of reliability & cost per ride, but lets face it – trains are kinda bullshit from time to time. You simply run a search with your start and end points, and ride amigos brings up a list of individuals who have posted their routes and you can opt to pick them up, or meet them where they are to share the cab fare. Not only is this economical, it’s also eco friendly solution.

I actually heard of the Ride Amigos service but haven’t checked it up yet. I thought the ride matching was part of the environmentalism move (less cars, less pollution). I’m not with the “Save the Planet” hype, but I must admit it’s a good idea!
