Buildings vs Jenga in a “I’m Not Sure That’s a Good Idea” Experiment

The New York skyline is something. It’s well reknown for having some amazing architecture, as well as being well known as a mecca for urban culture. Now imagine a building, something so out of the ordinary it would be a spectacle unto itself in the midst of the busy city.

David Fisher is looking to build a Dynamic Tower; one that changes shapes over the course of the day. The tower will rotate and twist creating new shapes as the day progresses. New York would be the site of the second Dynamic Tower, the first being Dubai who’s stunning architecture has been at the forefront of technological advancement.

The building has wind turbines between floors said to generate enough power to generate enough electricity for both the building itself and others nearby. During it’s rotation the ceilings of the apartments will be exposed to direct sunlight, for portions of the day.

Once the site of the building has been determined, we can expect apartments to go on sale between one, and 20 kabillion-gillion-dillion dollars.

  2. i’m for the energy saving ideas, but all these giant glass sculptures are taking personality out of NYC. Why not make energy efficient structures affordable for the nurses, teachers, waiters in NYC who are having the roughest times?

  3. It seems like most new developers are only looking for the fastest route from A to B with maximum duckets involved. I’m crazy about the design, but I feel ya on the personality aspect. I guess the question becomes, when does architecture like this become acceptable in a town like NYC. At a certain point, probably not in my lifetime the entire city will be filled with buildings like this, and most people will think those have personality while the next wave of new developments come around.
