Flawless Hustle Presents: Money Isn’t Real Free Download

After a summer of hard work, the payoff is here: Flawless Hustle proudly presents Money Isn’t Real, our first compilation. If there’s one topic that’s a constant in Hip-Hop its money. Whether heads are making it, spending it or stealing it, the scene (and our world) is obsessed with money. Hell, one of the reasons people hustle is to get loot, so we ourselves know the power of a dollar, which got us thinking: what the fuck is money, really? It’s an interesting concept, and was a great jumping off point for this debut project, so we asked a host of esteemed MCs and producers to give us their take(s) on the idea of money and it not being real. The end result is Money Isn’t Real, which contains stories about getting paid, jacking loot, spending cheese or just plotting on attaining funds. We even have tracks that show the underside, the results of where our money-driven culture could lead us going into the future. The possibilities are endless, and with a good drink (or a nicely-rolled L), you and your goons/business partners/stockholders should have a deep conversation about many of the themes within this project. Or you can just download it and have a compilation that satisfies from front to back. The choice is yours.

Today’s conscious MC is now known as an active MC. The greatest MCs have only once lived and survived the reality they speak of yet the conscious, righteous MC is expected to continue into the latest battles that they chronicle. Why? Because the shit is real, motherfucker! While all rappers and select MCs are no longer guaranteed eventual riches after being pressed on wax, the freedom fighting lyricist has and always will be on the frontlines. The Revolution is actually a fucking element of Hip Hop. So the real G’s on the street and those fans outside of Fat Beats that meet, Boots of the Coup gotta teach the kids, Chuck D must be the redeeming presence, KRS the punctuating commentator, DPZ gotta be at the activist rallies and Gods’ and Earths’ parliaments, Immortal Technique is supposed to fund an orphanage in Afghanistan and A-Alikes are supposed to “FTP!,” document oppression and offer the street protocol, codes and honor precisely at all times.
And as they all do, A-Alikes continues making their content a daily way and ethic for dealing with this devilish society. The realness of the MC is required for greatness and since their first full-length, Live or Die followed by the official release, I Eat, You Eat, they show more definitive personas, dexterity and styles with the newest mixtape release, The Hustler and the Hunted, Pt.3. Playing like a full length album, with interesting sound clips, including the chronicling of Tupac’s bucking of two pigs, Ness and K so naturally speak to issues of poverty, hopelessness, anger and frustration that have sadly been assumed irrelevant today. Revolution is not a gimmick but the word that focuses one on empowerment (“It’s more than just putting lines together like Revolution is more than just popping a cop top”). A-Alikes have the innate ability to offer the uplift from our degraded survival as oppressed Original people (Black, Latino, Indian, Asian, etc.) with a protocol of war, real ways to uphold one’s honor and a redefinition of manhood that includes taking care of the children or just…fucking caring.
The mixtape certainly shows a growth in delivery as in the rolling flow of “Do Your Time” or the stuttered pace of “A.R.T. (All Real Things), clever and insightful similes (“fake niggas move with no foundation like a mobile home”) being used over nothing but hard breaks and crisp snares. The featured cuts for their upcoming album, “Currency” and “Sirens in the Distance” with the resurgent Mos Def are great appetizers. Mixtapes today are often loosely designed albums of enticing filler for the next album. A-Alikes offer something a lot more and set up their Us Against Them LP right and exact.

Andre Sanchez lives for music. He started in Christian-themed hip hop in eighth grade, writing about the darker side of reality and giving his listeners an altogether new paradigm to consider when sitting through special music at church. Growing up in the San Francisco bay area, he evolved from a skateboarding rascal to a young self-affirming writer.
Andre left the comfort (and rules) of home for Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA where he has a year left of his BS in Communications.
Emerging out of the electric nights and stepping into new wide eye mornings, Bisco Smith aka Bisc1 is now prepared to direct his mind to a larger range of thinkers, a lighter train of thought and a more balanced way of being. From the first official release, The Basics, Bisc1 has focused mainly on himself, his inversions and his personal story. On The Broadcast, after nearly 4 years of notable releases and 4 projects, Mr. Smith has reached a new channel of art, awareness, and energy. With age comes experience and with experience change is born. From behind the microphone Bisco broadcasts his thoughts far and wide projecting to everyone inside of listening range.
The production on the record is supplied solely by New York native J.vegus. J provides an electronic landscape filled with heavy drums and infectious rhythms that carry Bisco’s words and emotions to channels previously untouched by the two. Although Vegus was very involved in Bisco’s last album, the critically acclaimed When Electric Night Falls (2008, Embedded Music), this time he has single handedly worked to push sound in new directions, meshing hip-hop with a bit of down tempo, dubstep and electronica influences. The first single from The Broadcast, “Morning Breath,” is a fitting welcome to the artist’s present mindset: refreshed and better than ever. “The song is a statement about how I feel here now on my artistic travels. With so much time and energy spent creating, ‘Morning Breath’ is a welcome to the marathon of life. A coming to terms with the idea that life, and more specifically the creation of art is not a race but a marathon. In the end, no matter what path you take, personality you fit, or hustle you choose, you’re going to get to where you’re supposed to be. ‘Good morning world’ captures this journey: a comfortable hello to the past and an easy, more relaxed glance to the future.”
Bisco Smith, aka Bisc1, born in a rush to the delivery room outside of Boston, and raised outside of New York City in the Suburbs of Connecticut, currently broadcasts out of his Brookyln, NY studio. Growing up, the looming NYC cityscape and its magnetic energy constantly lured him. Bisco moved to NYC 10 years ago and quickly made a name for himself DJ’ing at clubs, distributing mixtapes, and in creative circles. Soon, Bisc1 picked up the mic and won several battle raps including the Whose Line Is It monthly at the Knitting Factory in NYC 4 consecutive months in a row. His debut release, The Basics EP (2006), gained the favorable attention of music critics and his subsequent release, The Stay Up Project mixtape (2007) was downloaded over 5000 times. Bisc’s penchant for capturing our chaotic reality with his narratives, images, and collaborations has earned him a reputation as one of the most honest and creative artists of today. Going beyond music, Bisc1 is also an accomplished graphic artist. He’s done cover art, designed promotional materials and spearheaded art direction for artists such as Aesop Rock, The Perceptionists, C-Rayz-Walz, Murs, El-P, and others. His art has been featured in several magazines and art house coffee table books and in galleries, such as Danny Simmon’s Rush Arts Gallery. 2008 was a big year for Bisco. He released the critically acclaimed album When Electric Night Falls, toured the US, and performed at CMJ, SXSW, Scribble Jam, and NXNE. Currently he spends his time designing everything from record covers to websites, painting walls, participating in art gallery shows, mentoring the city’s youth with art and music and all the while transmitting top quality music to the people.
2009 finds Bisco Smith continuing to write his own story after a decade plus submerged in New York City’s music and arts culture. The Strange Love Project, released at the beginning of the year, is an audiovisual remix collection inspired by When Electric Night Falls, encompassing the work of more than 30 multimedia artists curated by Bisco. Now, after a national tour, a half dozen regional runs, one hundred plus local shows, national and international press, four projects and a following that spreads worldwide, The Broadcast is here. Tune in, turn it up and enjoy the frequency.

Chin Chin formed in 2001 by Torbitt and Wilder Schwartz – joined soon after by Atlanta Georgia bred Jeremy Wilms- was originally intended to improvise back-up music for singers and MCs at a monthly party in Brooklyn. A typical Chin Chin show will quickly evolve into a contagious dance party the audience responding at once to their incendiary musicianship and charisma. Time OUT NY aptly summed this phenomenon up when they said that Chin Chin were tighter than your boss with a raise. I’ve been listening to hip hop music for pretty much as long as I can remember. First song I learnt the words to was Young MC – “Principals Office”. As a child I never had any aspirations whatsoever of being a rapper or making hip hop music – not because I didn’t like the idea, more because I didn’t think of it as something that was possible for a kid from New Zealand to do.
I spent the first 18 years of my life doing the same shit your average kid from Auckland does. Went to School, played Streetfighter, learnt kickflips, wagged sometimes, got snapped by mum, got a hiding – so on and so forth. After high school, I went to University to do a degree in Computer Science. Up until that point I recall my only goal in life being to “go to Uni”. Both my older brother and sister had gone, and from the moment my sister told me you could skip your lectures, hang out in the city and go to the arcade without anyone telling you off – I knew that it was the place I needed to be.
Whilst there I never really thought about having a career in computer programming once I was done, I think I was just magically hoping to get rich and for my whole life to fall into place. Through this whole time my appreciation of rap music had been a constant, and I’d be up on the net trying to source or find out about whatever new music was coming out. Because of this, in my last year I met a couple people who introduced me to the local hip hop scene. I saw that a couple of them were doing their thing, writing raps, djing and whatnot. I’d been getting into downloading instrumentals to do drunk freestyles over with my mates so I figured I’d try my hand at writing some stuff.
This led to me wanting to record what I’d written, so I got some cracked recording software off the net, bought myself a cheap mic and started putting stuff down. I was really fortunate that the first people I showed my recordings to were really encouraging and supportive. I’ve never been one of those extroverted ‘look at me’ type people, so had someone told me I’d sucked early on I imagine I would’ve just thought “Oh well, guess I suck” and gone and found something else to do with my time.
Within the next 6 months, Nick a.k.a FortyOne came into contact with one of my demos and liked it enough to wanna link up as he had recently started getting into production. We went on to form a duo called Frontline. We released 2 albums, a fully independent release called What You Expect and our official debut Borrowed Time via Dirty Records. During that time we toured, did music vids, had top 40 singles/album, won a music award etc … but I hate writing about that sorta shit. What I will say is I had heaps of fun and pretty much learnt from scratch about writing/recording and performing music as I went along – it’s all right there in those Frontline records.
In the time since the last Frontline record I’ve been working on my album Something Awesome and finding my feet as a solo artist. It’s a transition I’ve enjoyed and I feel more comfortable all the time with what I do and what I’m about as an artist. I just wanna make music that feels good – no more, no less.

IllumiNessence helps embody that new version of being “gangsta” – Saul Williams said it best when he described Hip-Hop as being Republican. Even in recession-plagued times, niggas think its nothing to floss chains, money and cars. The real gangstas, the real revolutionaries, they are the ones turning the mirror on ourselves, making us look inward to figure out how we should progress to keep our communities and societies thriving when the bottom drops.
What do you see your future holding? Will you be following the trail of satellites in the sky, or will you be hatching plans to find a way on one of those mechanical beasts, turning it on its ear, and redirecting that fucker into your (least) favorite trendy department store? Food for thought… Money Isn’t Real.

I was born in uganda. One of the most impoverished places on earth. Pops brought me to Europe. Love my pops for that, I could’nt ask for more, its like saving someone out of a fire.
America gave me hiphop. I think its the best thing America ever gave the world. My world. The world of the dream chase, the hunger, the strength.
I am one of those “all in one” hip hop heads and i think i have done it all from scratching up wax to breaking and grafiti writing. It all started in 84. After 3 years in the swedish immigration swamp my pops had finally got a permit to bring me over to Europe, Sweden from Uganda. Around that time the waves of hip hop were sweeping across the world and i was no exeption to falling in love with this vivid culture. Being an african young’ne so far away from anything african, this new african-american lifestyle just spoke to me. It probably filled some kind of cultural void. I remember telling my family when i was about 12 that i would never wear anything else but fila suits and sneakers for the rest of my life,ha ha.
During the late 80’s me and my friends used to chill in the boy room with the permanent marker fumes in the air and listen to the latest tapes from the US( peace to my man K George). Some of us were cleaning up the sneakers, others were practicing the latest break moves and some just sharpening their tags while singing along with the raps coming out from the speakers. Everybody from our parents to teachers were telling us that this hip hop trend was a waste of time and that it would die out very soon. I was’nt listening to that though, i was in love.
Fast foward to the late 90’s and im in New York City still doing the same thing, hanging with different cats just living hip hop, recording a few tracks here and there, trying to get up in the rap game, making a few dollars doing street promotion for my man Ivan Ramires at GMP promotions and Cornerstone. Finally in 2000 we put out my first serious wax project called 720 degrees under the name Shiny Dayz and got it distributed by the legendary but now defunct Buds Distribution(shout to my man Tim Weedon). The high light of that project for me was to actually see people pick it up off the shelf at the Fatbeats record store and buying it. I will never forget that satisfying feeling. 720 degrees also got put on mixtapes by dope djs like Black Panther, Dj ESE(Def Jux/Embeded) and played on radio by the one and only Bobbito Garcia, also by Dj Opal on the world wide show-humongus stuff back then for a cat like me.
Good things were happening but after 911 in 2001 alot changed and i decided to fight my battles from Stockholm. I formed Ruush Entertainment and eventually released a project called Swedish Rap Is Dead: the Ep. The Ep got good reviews and the video to one of the songs, “Stay Awake”, got to the top 20 chart on Chanel U in London. The Ep also led to an extensive tour of Germany where i opened up Major artists like Mobb Deep, U God from the Wu Tang and Loop Troop among others.
Late Bloomer EP
In 2005 we put out my debut album Third World Animal exclusively for the german market. It got great reviews and got voted in at top 10 for best international newcomers on germanys biggest hip hop website Rap.De.
In 2009 i’m just done with pushing Late Bloomer Ep. The first single/video out is “Used to love her”.
Late bloomer is about me being late in the game of rap and just now after a long time starting to get recognition. And also how im a bit stuck in the late 90’s…a bit musically retarded.
Jonny Walker

Jonny Walker is city born, suburban raised but universally made. He started writing rhymes when he first thought, “I could do this better than him”, after listening to one of your favorite rappers. His will to rhyme started off purely competitive. And while it still is, his purpose has transformed many times through out his journey as an emcee. The release of his mixtape, “Chemical Food”, scheduled for release in 2010 through FlawlessHustle.com and fully produced by producer/studio engineer extraordinaire, Parker A.K.A SeventyMHZ, will be the first in a series of CD’s to display his perspective of what its like to be a young, intelligent, ambitious, black man in America.

Hailing from a place that is almost exclusively known for The Wizard of Oz, Topeka, Kansas has produced an emcee that manages to keep hip-hop’s soul alive while still bringing a sound that is marketable to nearly any audience.
A true student of hip-hop, Jones is a perfect example of a new generation of emcees that draws influence from every region. Whether it’s Master P and Cash Money Records from New Orleans, Outkast and the Dungeon Family from Atlanta, Death Row Records from California or the Wu Tang Clan from New York, Jones credits nearly everyone for his love affair with hip hop. “Being from Kansas and not really having a bias towards any particular artist or sound, I was able to listen to things with an open mind. Regardless of whether I could personally relate to what cats were talking about, I found aspects of so many artists that interested me.” It’s that openness that has allowed LoveJones to explore different styles and feel comfortable on any type of production.
LoveJones first made his mark with his group, Full House, on the local scene in Kansas. After just one open mic, Full House started headlining shows at almost every venue in Lawrence, Kansas. With an energetic stage show and a large following, Full House dominated the local scene for 6 months before his brother, DJ Tanner, moved to New York and the group was forced to split. Jones continued recording music and performing in Kansas. He eventually joined forces with The Only Ones Crew, Stik Figa and Adullessnce, before he moved to Chicago, Illinois. From the moment he touched Chicago soil, Jones impressed people with his lyrical abilities and commanding stage show. After performing a few shows, he linked up with producers Phys Edison, Slot-A, The Gift and Rob Bates and has quickly became one of Chicago’s most promising artists.
His debut album with Phys Edison, Sunday Drive, has received a very warm welcome from artists and listeners alike. Websites like Fakeshoredrive, Flawlesshustle, Rubyhornet and Hiphopgame have taken notice and shown their support to Jones and his music. “Sunday Drive is not only my introduction to hip-hop as an artist but also to me as a man. It shows my insecurities and vulnerabilities. There are a few songs where the listener witnesses me evolving. I hold nothing back.” Another impressive characteristic of LoveJones is his work ethic. As Sunday Drive was being wrapped up and released, Jones completed his second, full-length album, Have You Seen My Stapler? with producers Slot-A and The Gift. With a new sound and a more aggressive approach, Jones plans on coming out swinging and catching everyone off guard with “Stapler.” Now boasting cosigns from some of Chicago’s most talented artists, Jones’ potential is limitless. With ties that stretch from Toronto to Texas, New York to LA and even Australia, LoveJones is quickly demanding attention across the globe. “I feel like what I have to offer hip-hop is pure, its honest and its real. But I also include some of the flash and flare that mainstream rap is known for. I think there is a delicate balance between being too underground or being too mainstream; I want to tightrope walk that line by combining both aspects into what I create.”

Mr. Beatz aka B Capital is an MC/beatmaker who has been creating a strong buzz on the NYC underground for the past couple of years. He’s been ripping up stages all over NYC, been all over underground Hip Hop radio, had a video out with airplay on the Legendary Video Music Box by Ralph McDaniels as well as other video networks, etc. Beatz’s music consists of raw, Boom Bap production with a mix of lyricism along with a dose of scratching. This combination is rarely found nowadays, which immediately sets him apart from what most artists are doing today in Hip Hop. He simply calls it “pure creativity”, which is how the name for “Puritivity Muzic” came about.
As a Lyricist, Beatz tries to raise the bar with lyricism every time he gets in the vocal booth or steps on stage. His level of wordplay speaks for itself in each recording. He’s also an MC who is known for his “off the head” freestyle skills. In fact, his freestyles are way more complex than most MCs’ written lyrics. To watch him display this skill live on stage is an experience not to be missed.
As a beatmaker he shows that he doesn’t have the name Mr. Beatz for nothing. He is no stranger to the MPC and his style of production reflects someone who digs deep for samples and also tries to raise the bar with beats. Beatz plans to make an impact throughout Hip Hop as that dude behind the boards as well as in front of the mic.
Mr. Beatz has an album entitled, “Spit Therapy” in the works that is scheduled for a late November/early December release. The album will also feature production from fellow producers Skammadix (Sabac Red of Non Phixion, Army of the Pharoahs, Reef the Lost Cauze, MF Grimm, The Day Laborers, etc.) and The Avid Record Collector (Louis Logic, Rise, etc.).

Seven Day is a group hailing from Beverly Hills, CA made up of brothers: J Listed(Producer/Emcee) and Jay Diction(Emcee). Although growing up in the affluent city of Los Angeles their family struggled financially. This instilled a strong work ethic and the mentality to never take life for granted. The group was formed in 2005 after creating music for 3 years playing instruments. In 06′ close friend and soon to be mentor D1(DeUno) from Venice began producing tracks with Listed and showed him the ropes of creating songs. With help from D1 they released their first EP “The Update” available for free download on the net. The groups debut album which is not yet titled is due out early 2010.

I’m only one fourth of the group” Infinite Cycle”, which includes MCK2, Killahurtz(lord lamont), and Jock. Together we have completed two albums (Infinite Cycle’s “Euphoria” and Mcktwo & Shortyraw “Art of Reflective Evolution”). I got my first solo album dropping this year entitled “Magnum Opus.”
I think “Magnum Opus” definitely differs from the first two albums I mentioned earlier. Its more personal but yet generally informative to the youth of today. “Euphoria”, being the album we started to explore our talents, not really having any direction nor focus. “Art of Reflective Evolution”, was definitely a growth spurt album. It basically focused on the growth of MCK2 and myself as producers/emcees. The album also displayed a special focus or shall I say vibe, that was undeniably jazzy and cool. Since those albums we have continued to grow and raise the bar for our standards in the creativity department.
Which leads me to tell you about,”Magnum Opus”………Me personally, this is definitely my best work to date. It includes production from myself(of course), Killahurtz, 8:35, Tone Beatz, and Wiz. Mixed by Killahurtz and Andre Ellis. So be on the look out….1Love

Please speak on your new album “Sponatola”?
It’s my first official solo release. Well, I recorded a whole solo album in 2000 (15tracks) and when I went back to mix & master everything the studio was empty / closed. I got heavy into producing for other people & also rhyming w/ a few crews until a lot of people started saying “you should go solo” Well here it is…
You are the co-founder of The Beat Fanatics, how did that come together?
Slopfunkdust is the founder & he is like a brother to me. He was one of 3 people who taught me how to make beats & we have always been tight. When he started Beat Fanatic Music Group it was a small crew of fellow producers from different states & a few dudes in Europe. Now it’s expanded into the most renown worldwide collective of producers in the game.
Any plans for a tour in the near future?
I have plans for a small tour in Europe 2010 in France, Germany, London, Belgium, Cyprus.
What’s next as an artist?
Next release is IMPACT – BRAZILLIONAIRES which is ALJAZZ of Africa on production & me on the mic. I have an instrumental album called BUY SURPRISE mixed by DJ El-ZINK free download in a few months… Beat Fanatic Vol.1 coming in 2010. Also, I just produced an entire album for a Tampa emcee Eyeznpowa which will be coming soon..

Soulfully inclined producer, MC, and turntablist ST/MiC (pronounced “saint mike”) was a musical prodigy at a young age, learning to play the bass, guitar, and drums all by the time he was 14. In high school, he shifted from live instruments to sample-based electronics and DJing, and studied under house-dance remixer and producer Holmes Ives. Using the spelled out moniker “St. Michael,” he cut his teeth as a DJ on the East Coast’s electronic dance scene, performing his hip-hop and drum’n'bass productions throughout the 90s. His first release on wax was the drum’n'bass cut “Scared Before,” issued by Random Recordings in 1998. He also made many appearances on mixtapes by frequent collaborator DJ Ragz, one-half of hip-hop group Jazz Addixx. Though he released more recordings in the 2000s, including some low-key EPs and collaborative projects with rappers the Unknown and other half of Jazz Addixx, M.U.D.D., he devoted his time to honing his production and audio engineering skills, and he eventually settled down in Virginia. In that time, he was responsible for mixing down songs for Skillz, Rass Kass, C-Rayz Walz, Cris Prolific (featuring artists such as: Guilty Simpson, Baatin of Slum Village, Illa J, Phat Kat, Black Milk and More) and, of course, Jazz Addixx. In 2007, Australian-based Vibra Online issued ST/MiC’s first full-fledged effort, the MP3-only On My Days Off, an instrumental LP combining edgy, angular drum’n'bass with relaxing, downtempo soul ( Later Officially Released by AudibleObjects). The decidedly hip-hop album, Life’s Work, featuring guest spots and production by the Unknown and Jazz Addixx (among others), arrived a year later on Domination Recordings. A few months later a Japanese Import version of “Life’s Work” was released on CD and vinyl by Yanase Pro Japan.

Life’s struggles present us with many unique challenges, some are never able to over come them, others see it as an excuse to stay stagnant, but ultimately the wise see it as ammo for a real life story to tell and a wonderful life to lead. Pasadena’s own VERSIS represents the latter to the fullest extent. From early childhood VERSIS saw music as not only a hobby but something he was skilled at. Originally coming from Los Angeles’ Inglewood area, some moving around the LA County landed him in one of the most prominent cities in the San Gabriel Valley, Pasadena.
Some might say the lack of a present father would cause many young black males to turn to a life of crime and the inevitable involvement in street gangs, but for VERSIS Hip Hop is his clique and his lyrics are his arsenal. Without making excuses he puts it best, “Pops was seldom seen confirming the statistics/ a deadbeat just name a year he probably missed it.” VERSIS sees reality as it is and moves on from that of which many use to provide a rationale to their own failure.
It is no wonder that through honesty in his music VERSIS provides a voice for real Hip Hop and for a generation that many feel have been negatively influenced by unrealistic music marketed by the mainstream media.
It wasn’t until late 2008 that VERSIS started to effectively utilize the talent that he’s noticed since as far back as he could remember. With assisting in the creation of the PASADENA HIP HOP ALLIANCE, under the guidance of his advisor, Mr. K. (FOCI), it allowed him to become a part of a circle of like minded individuals and to nurture his talent. In addition to that experience his own brother’s longtime friendship with LA’s SEVEN DAY allowed for VERSIS to sit in on recording sessions and position himself to eventually get into the booth and record his own tracks.
VERSIS is currently self promoting his work while prepping to gain ‘higher learning’ after graduating from Blair IB Magnet in ’09. With a rare baritone voice and non monotone style the uniqueness of this Hip Hop prodigy is coming to fruition. The bird has been pushed out of its nest and now the whole world will get to see him soar.

Mike Schpitz- “Money Talks”::
Got a sick flo- thick do- big cars- whip those- rare kicks ya’ll don’t even wear- you can’t get those!
This compilation is littered with sick beat, original rhymes, and a vibe that represents the progressive growth of true hip-hop. Mayhem, Iron African, and IllumiNessence, to name just a few, push lyrical meter to the next level.
If this is the first compilation, I look forward to volume 2, 3, 4, and hopefully an annual release of these albums and more hip-hop goliaths.
