Supra Skytop 2 Release At M.I.A Skateshop in Miami

You know I’m a heavy supra wearer so I had to attend the release of the Supra Skytop 2 at M.I.A Skateshop.
I rolled out there with the homie Mandon from Magic City Clothing and posted up in the skateshop checking out the atmosphere and waiting for the shoes to release. They only made 600 worldwide for this first release and M.I.A skateshop received 36 pairs. I wanted a pair, but I wasn’t really stressing it because I’ve got hella bills to pay. But at the same time my Supra addiction needed to be fed, so when I went up to the counter and the owner of M.I.A Skateshop, Chris Williams, asked me what size shoe I wanted, you know I blurted out “Tens!”. Dude wrote me up a ticket and said, “Lucky, these are the last pair of tens we have left.”

M.I.A skate shop is one of the freshest stores in Miami, but is super small so mandon and I walked out and started talking to some of the other people that were there waiting for a pair of the sneakers and everyone was excited. I took a bunch of flicks and some video and just took in the whole scene. I’m not a skater personally but I really respect the scene. for the most part it’s a no bullshit kind of scene and I really dig that.

The wait was long and I was getting kind of tired of waiting to get the kicks and even contemplated leaving when I saw this kid with a huge bandage on his face run across the street to shake some long haired, shabby dudes hand. I thought to myself,”Hmm, that must be Chad Muska.” Intuition told me that. Even though I’m a heavy Supra wearer, I never took the time to learn about Chad Muska. My love of the sneakers is where everything stopped. I respected dude for his skateboard prowess, but all I wanted to do was kick up dust in my kicks and that was it. Chad actually was really cool and excited to see everyone. He acted as if he knew everyone. It totally wasnt akward. He might have been hands down one of the coolest celebrities I’ve ever met. He shook everyones hand with a genuine smile on his face and engaged in conversation with everyone as if he knew them forever.

His gold Skytop 2′s were so fresh I couldn’t believe my eyes. They were obviously 1 of 1, and were made specifically for him. They were higher than normal and had custom art all over them. they totally stuck out against his all black attire.

I saw one of his homies and asked him about his black pair of skytop 2′s and he told me they were just like the ones I was going to get, but he took a sharpie and colored them black. Then he told me they were the first pair ever made. I was like,”Oh word?” and he proceeded to take his shoe off and show me that it said “1 out of 500″ on the inside. Cool!I think the run of 500 his shoes were from were for friends and family.

Chad walked inside and everyone followed him like he was the pied piper. He went over to the main skateboard area where decks, wheels, and trucks were sold and started signing boards, sneakers, posters and anything else anyone could get their hands on. He didnt skimp on the signings either. Dude really signed everything with his own personal style. Look at the box he did for me. Dude turned my box into a personalized masterpiece.

When I made it up to him, I asked if I could play him the song I made dedicated to Supra’s called “My Supras” and he was all for it. He plugged his headphones into my ipod and literally jammed out to the track. He said he loved it and told his marketing director to give me her card and to get in contact with her about maybe collaborating with them. Score!

Obviously, by this time I had my pair of kicks and couldn’t stop checking them out. Along with the sneakers came a fresh shirt dedicated to the sneakers and the worldwide tour as well as a totebag. I saw the kid with the huge bandage on his face and had to get a picture of him with his brand new kicks.
We got a bunch of video and as Chad was leaving I asked him to do a drop for flawless which he did and you will soon see it on here. Stay tuned. The whole day was more than a good time and further solidified my love for Supra Footwear.
