MR. Solo Dolo – Kid Cudi / SantiGold Diesel Music Show at Paris Theater in Miami Beach

IMG_0882

The other night me and my homies from Magic City Clothing went out to the Diesel Music show at the Paris theater out here in Miami Beach. The whole thing was beyond fresh.

The tickets were free first of all, but the trade off was that you had to wear the wrist bands they give you everyday until the show. You know I wasn’t with that. So my homie G who scooped tickets with me, got mcgyvor with it, and took both of ours off without destroying the things and protected them so we could put them on the day of the show. Unfortunately G couldnt make, so I met up with the homies and threw mine on when I got there.

The line was around the block literally. We walked down the line saying what’s up to some homies we saw and came to conclusion we weren’t going to stand out there and wait to get it. Did I mention they gave away a thousand free tickets, but only were letting in four hundred people? Well that was the case, so the odds of getting in were looking dismal – for everyone else. My homie Mandon actually knows Cudi, so that pretty much guaranteed our in. But Cudi obviously wasn’t gonna come in the front, so despite being on some random list which no one seemed to have, it still was going to take some clever maneuvering to get in. We stood at the front door, and watched as some people were walking right in like wolves by just showing their wrist bands, and other stood in line like sheep.Man, we walked up, flashed our wrists like we were in the “Mo’ Money Mo Problems” video and walked right in ahead of everyone.

When we got in, Mandon got a text from Cudi saying he was on some VIP list. Yes! we walk up to the VIP table and Mandon tells the dude hes on some kind of list. after some searching, he couldn’t find his name. You’d think that would be that and we wouldn’t be able to get into VIP, But this is Flawless Hustle baby! Dude looked at our crew, turned the VIP list around and just wrote our names on it and gave us 3 wrist bands. No joke. We walked past the red carpet and into the show.

When we got in there it was packed with tons of industry heads and bad chicks. Im talking really bad chicks. Wilhelmina models model types. Heaven. We flashed our wrists again at the dude guarding the stairs and walked up to the VIP area where all the good liquor was and immediatly took shots like that group”LMFAO”. The upstairs VIP area was fresh. The venue itself was really dope inside, and the people there made the scene even more colorful and unique. We walked around up there for a while and could see it would be hard to see Cudi cause the VIP was crowded, so we headed down stairs to check out the scene.

As we descended the stairs we ran into this dude(above). Look at this motherfuckers hair! Mandon Kept calling it a mullet. I thought it was way to long to be called a Mullet, I called that shit a mane. It looked like he took care of that thing well. Pure hilarity ensued while we walked around and bumped into the dude below.

IMG_1013

Jesus Christ! What is going on here. or should I ask what isn’t going on here. When we ran into dude again upstairs in VIP we almost fell off the balcony laughing.

We watched a bunch of nobodies open up for Cudi and Santigold for a little while and just headed back to VIP to get “Rock star lifestyle, might don’t make it” wasted before the actually Cudi show. Gucci!

As we were drinking we started hearing Cudi perform and ran to VIP to catch it on video but the VIP was packed so we ran downstairs for a good spot and got a good one by stage left. I personally didn’t like Cudi’s album. There were a couple dope tracks, but nothing really jumped out at me. Maybe I wasn’t listening right, I dont know. But when he was performing, his joints sounded sick. I can’t even front, I was all into that shit. Dude had a really genuine vibe about him. I don’t just judge musicians by their music. I also judge them by their demeanor and authenticity. I did listen to the lyrics on Cudi’s album and he was def saying some heavy shit. And those heavy lyrics made for a very heavy and near sensational show. People were bugging out over dude and he looked like he was having a lot of fun.

After Cudi was finished, Santigold came on right after and killed it. I’m talkin man slaughter. I dug her album. Shes really fresh. Her tracks bumped well and her back up dancers/singers were so dope. Me and Magic City Alex were really impressed with them. They wore black glasses and kept a stone face the whole time they sang and danced, which when junxtaposed against santi’s animated, playful style, gave them a commanding aura all their own.

Heads were clamoring to meet Cudi and my homie Mandon got to chop it up with dude for a minute during the chaos and we got invited to hit some club. The rest of the night was pure crazyness cause by the end of the show, we were all drunk off Vodka, Tequila and, of course, Johnny Walker Black.

All in all we had a good time. Im really leaving out a lot of stuff. The post would end up a novel. Diesel sponsored the whole thing. and oh, I almost forgot to mention, it was open bar so I didn’t spend a dime. That made it even better. Cudi killed his show. Santi murdered it. And the atmosphere was great. You can’t really beat those kind of parties when you come across them.  The kind of parties that help to define your youth when it has long gone.
