Skteboarding has gone from being known as a degenerate activity to a lifestyle that has made many young professional skateboarders into millionaires. It would be no surprise that with the profile of skateboarding rising to be known and respected worldwide, eventually people would want to incorporate the sport into every facet of their life. Just like the Hip-Hop DJ may decide to put a full studio in his house to wake up and practice mixing or producing an entire album with out leaving his home; A client requested that the architects at Archivirus Architecture and Design transform his living space into a “Skateable Habitat” so they could frontside backslide all day and all night.

Architect Athanasia Psaraki took the request as a challenge to reconsider and redesign the living space. Leaving us with a skateboarders dream home which “sets the whole house as well as the inhabitants life, in motion.”

The ramp house is a roof top addition to a three story building. Many of the things you’d normally find in a house such as a fireplace and storage areas are built into the ramps. Wood was a big part of the building initially, so wood was incorporated into alot of the design of the house as well as concrete, which the walls and floors are made up of. The concrete floors sometimes flow into the wood in the form of ramp partitions to seperate certain areas such as the kitchen. That way, says Athanasia, some one can flow from one space to another, whether their skating or walking.

The Ramp house is one of a kind and totally disregards the conventional standards of a home which should be inspirational to all those trying to take things to the next level in any way shape or form.
